Bereavement Support in Hertford and Surrounding Area

Adult helpline: 01707 278 389

Anyone can contact us if they want to talk about themselves or someone they know who has been affected by a death.

Our volunteers offer six sessions of support and talk to bereaved people either on the telephone or in their own homes, listening to their unique stories.  We don’t want to tell clients how they should feel or what they should do.  Instead, we offer emotional and psychological support - sometimes with a little practical help - enabling them to regain some control over their lives.  The service is confidential and free.

Children and Young People's helpline: 01707 264 293

We offer support for children and young people aged 5 to 18.  All our volunteers are specifically trained in working with children and young people, and can see the young person in their home or at school.

We are able to work on a one-to-one basis, with siblings or the whole family as appropriate.  We can work for as long as necessary, and all our services are free.

Peace Hospice Care's Counselling and Bereavement team is part of our Starlight Services and offers a wide range of support, free of charge, to anyone who has been bereaved within Hertfordshire, regardless of whether or not they have had a previous connection with the Hospice.

Support offered depends largely on individual need and situation; no two experiences are the same, even amongst those sharing a common loss.  Some people may find informal support and talking to someone on the telephone is all they need; whilst others can benefit from professional one to one counselling with a qualified accredited counsellor.
