Together we grow in God's love, learning to be the best we can be.

Autumn1

A very warm welcome to Year 4!

It has been a very busy and productive start to the term and the children have had a fantastic beginning to their time in Year 4.

This half-term, our topic is The Romans and our first book of the year is Roman Diary- The Journal of Iliona- A young slave by Richard Platt. It charts the adventures of a young girl who finds herself sold into slavery in Rome. Throughout the year, we will read a range of books both in Guided Reading and as our class reading book.

Each week we will send home a spelling sheet which has on it the spellings that will be studied in school the following week, set work on Mathletics related to our current Maths topic and also TT Rockstars.

Later on in the year, Year 4 will complete the national Times Tables assessment and the practise that they do at home on TT Rockstars will be invaluable in helping them during that assessment.

To support your child at home, please ensure they are reading for approximately 20 minutes per day and complete about 10 minutes of Mathletics/ TT Rockstars.

Reading books will be changed on a Thursday, however, the children need their reading folders in school daily as they will be opportunities for extra reading throughout the week.

Year 4's PE and Forest School day are on a Friday this term and we are very lucky to have Mrs Moffett working with the children on Friday.

We are really looking forward to working with your children and yourselves over the next year and encourage you to come and speak to us if you have any concerns.
