Welcome to Year 3, another exciting year at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School! This year is a big transition for the children as they move from Key Stage One to Key Stage Two and I’m sure you’ll endeavour to support your child in their continued learning. I’m delighted to inform you that the children have made a very pleasing start to the year and I am confident this will continue.
In Key Stage Two we like to encourage the children to continue to grow in confidence and independence. Children are expected to read daily, read the Wednesday Word and complete the tasks as a family and learn their 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 & 10 times tables by heart. Mathletics and Timetables Rockstars are fantastic website to support the learning in the class, relative tasks will be set by me every week.
All types of reading is beneficial to your child; whether you are listening to them read a reading book, library book, sharing a book or reading to them. Try to read with your child for twenty minutes every day. Children can record their reading via email on Purple Mash to me. You have access to the reading scheme on Collins Big Cats, the access information is on our class page.
I will use Marvellous Me and our class page to communicate information to you over the course of this academic year. The class page will be updated with key information, photographs and examples of work.
I look forward to a happy and productive relationship with you over the coming year.
Kind regards, Mrs Kelly
